I had a chance to chat with Laura Bohn of Five Star Staging about staging one of the most important rooms of your home. If you want your home to sell quickly, make sure your bathroom looks nice.

The bathroom is one of the most used rooms in our home, and it needs to look roomy and clean.

So, according to Laura, here’s what you should be doing:

Create your bathroom as if it’s like your spa, and your oasis. It’s your place to get away from the world, get away from work and relax. So, the first thing we consider is paint. Keep it to a cream or shades of blue.

No lime green. No pinks. Just keep it to those blues because it reminds you of water and you want to create that oasis type of feel. Especially if you have a large master bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. You wanna give it that luxurious feel.

Another thing you can do is add really fresh, fluffy white towels. Hang them up on your towel bar with white wash cloths.

Put a little basket on your bathroom countertop or even on top of the tank of your toilet. Put some rolled white washcloths or hand towels into the basket.

Hide:

Toilet paper
Trash cans.
Plungers
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Hair dryers
Hair brushes
Makeup.

Put it all away, as make it as clean as you can possible get.

All you really need on your bathroom counter, especially if you have double sinks, is a nice flower centerpiece. Something tall, and something really pretty that’s gonna stand out in photographs.

Or if you just have one sink, you can put an apothecary jar and fill it with Q-tips or cotton balls. You can even roll up a washcloth and put a bar of soap on it, even if you have one from a hotel that you…

Stole? Borrowed, yeah, borrowed!

What about shower curtains?

Again, stick to whites and creams, solid colors. Get rid of any themes, like mermaids, fish and sailboats. Stick with a solid white or cream.

The bottom line is you want it to look like a spa, like a hotel. Very nice and clean feeling is what you’re going for.
