On July 20th, 1969 at 20:17 hours or 8:17 PM, Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong landed on the moon while Michael Collins orbited the moon, waiting for them to complete their mission and return to the orbiter. On their wrist, this original Moonwatch, the Speedmaster Chronograph. This watch was a critical backup to the digital systems, keeping time on the lander and orbiter. Should the digital systems fail, this watch was their only reference for time. It was the only timekeeping device approved for use outside the Eagle, forever known as tranquility base. Here at SwissWatchExpo this Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch is today’s Daily Drop.
