This Sunday, we will be reopening Sunday School at 9:00am in our regular locations! This applies to children, youth, and adults. After Sunday School, we will continue with a time of fellowship at 10:00am before our 10:30am corporate worship service. We also will be having our first Sunday Family Meeting since the beginning of the year at 5pm in the sanctuary. The elders will be giving an update on our ministries, and we will have a time of prayer and answering questions. In addition, we will also have an elder installation as part of our meeting.

For Sunday’s sermon, we will be getting into James 2:18-26. In this passage, we will discover that faith cannot be disconnected from what we do. Instead of just saying that we have faith, James points out that we must have an active faith that is working and growing. Otherwise, it is a useless religious mask of hypocrisy. For James, mere faith was an empty boast that masked great evil. Faith is trust in God alone, but it must be whole-hearted and produce works based on the mercy of God. A real and genuine faith shows itself in actions that are consistent with what we believe about God.

In this text of Scripture, James points us to two Old Testament examples: Abraham and Rahab. Both of these individuals had to take God at His Word by taking action based on God’s Word. We will look at each of these characters in detail and point out how their faith showed up through the most difficult of circumstances.

Let’s pray to God our Helper to open our minds and hearts to understand the Scriptures and to give us His grace to obey His Truth by faith!
